After experiencing chiropractic for the first time in my teens, there was no turning back – I just had to become a chiropractor! Now, I enjoy helping people of all ages reap the benefits of chiropractic care; I love seeing them live happier and healthier lives.
DR. KATHERINE'S PHILOSOPHY ON CHIROPRACTIC
I try to see my chiropractor as often as I can. It might be once a week or it might be once every two weeks. And that's when I'm not in pain!
Chiropractic keeps the whole body in balance by ensuring the nervous system is free of stress and interference. This results in higher energy levels and better moods. It allows you to feel more focused and motivated at work or when you're doing your day to day tasks.
Chiropractic gets you feeling better, moving faster, and functioning at your best potential.
WHO DOES DR. KATHERINE SEE? WHAT CONDITIONS DOES SHE TREAT?
I treat babies, children, teens, adults, and seniors. I have had patients who could barely walk through the door as well as patients who are pain-free and want to optimize their health. Chiropractic is safe, gentle, and effective.
I commonly treat those with sports injuries, disc herniations, repetitive/overuse strains, headaches, neck pain, general stress/tension. Since I am trained in gait analysis, I also see those who need customized orthotics. Pregnant women will seek chiropractic care for low back pain, leg pain, and to help ease the upcoming birthing process.
Children are always a delight to treat! Parents will often bring their children in for an adjustment to help curb scoliosis, increase their child's focus/concentration at school, or because their child is experiencing digestive problems.
HOW DR. KATHERINE GOT HOOKED ON CHIROPRACTIC
After hurting my back during high school, it only made sense for me to visit the chiropractor. He managed to link my scoliosis to my back pain. After regular adjustments, corrective and rehabilitative exercises, I was back to my regular routine and feeling fantastic!
I completed my undergraduate degree in Human Biology at the University of Toronto in 2002 and immediately started my chiropractic education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). During my internships, I was able to gain extensive experience with sports injuries. I was also given the opportunity to work with chronic pain patients through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
I worked at different chiropractic facilities after graduating from CMCC in 2006. I soon became a part of the Balanced Health Care team in 2007 and have been a part of the community ever since.
DR. KATHERINE KEEPS UP TO DATE
I make it a point to continue my education through seminars and courses. I am certified in Active Release Techniques and Graston Technique.
And because I love treating pregnant women and children, this winter I will be starting coursework with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association to obtain full certification in pregnancy and pediatrics care.
I am a member of the North York Chiropractic Society. With the society, I get introduced to new chiropractic techniques; learn new protocols and procedures within the profession; and gain exposure to different ways to better serve my patients.
I am also a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association and participate in their workshops/events throughout the year.
