Your spinal health is critical
Your nervous system is responsible for controlling almost all bodily functions. Messages from your brain travel down through your spinal cord to every part of your body. These messages are protected by your skull and spinal column.

When your spine becomes compressed, or its bones lose their normal position or motion, this is called vertebral subluxation. Spinal degeneration can be caused by stress, poor posture, illness, injury or even chemical imbalances.

If left untreated, these subluxations can lead to changes that are not always painful, but can be very destructive.
Warning signs of spinal degeneration
These are just a few indicators that you may benefit from the expert spinal care offered by a chiropractor:

1. Limited range of motion: You can’t:

  • Turn your head so that your chin is nearly parallel to your shoulder

  • Bend your head so that your ear is within one-half inch of your shoulder
  • Swivel from your waist 45 degrees to the left or right

  • Keep your body straight and bend forward at the waist until you are parallel with the floor
  • Bend backwards at the waist until you are looking straight up.
2. Imbalance in hips, shoulder or head: your hips and shoulders are not level; your head tilts to one side.

3. Different wear on your shoes’ heels than before.

4. Difference in leg length

5. Headaches/migraines

6. Insomnia/chronic fatigue

7. Palpation: Soreness, tenderness or discomfort when performing this test with a partner:  Lie face down in a relaxed position. Have your partner press with his/her finger pads on each “bump” or vertebrae along your spine, pressing with the same moderate pressure you’d use when checking the ripeness of a melon.
